As you’ve seen in the prior posts, monitoring systems consist of many components. Meters, data acquisition servers, communications infrastructure, databases and software systems must all function and communicate properly for the system to provide you with reliably accurate information.
What can possibly go wrong?

Often, they are working around the monitoring components and fail to understand how a change they make might affect the monitoring system. We’ll find wiring that has be reconnected incorrectly or not at all, probes that have been moved and power supplies that were not reconnected. These are just a few examples of how the systems can be messed up inadvertently by unfamiliar contractors.
Requirements are not static.
Your business is dynamic. Changes might be as simple as realizing, after seeing what the system can do for you, that you want to monitor additional buildings or specific sub-systems.
